Question 1: What is NEET UG?
Answer: As per the MCI Council Act 1956, DCI Act 1948 the amendments have been made in 2016 by Hon’ble Supreme Court that NEET shall be single entrance examination for admissions to MBBS and BDS seats in government, private, central and deemed medical colleges/universities in India.
Question 2: What is new eligibility criteria to appear in NEET UG 2017?
Answer: The Candidates must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or must complete the age on or before December 31, 2017. The upper age limit to appear in NEET is 25 years as on the date of examination with a relaxation of 5 years to SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Question 3: What is the New AGE Eligibility Criteria
Answer: Below table contains DATE of BIRTH & AGE LIMIT in NEET UG 2017.
- General Candidate: Born on or between 8 May 1992 and 1 January 2001
- SC/ST/OBC Candidate: Born on or between 5 May 1987 and 1 January 2001
Question 4: Are NRI/ NRE, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), NonResident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates eligible to apply for 15% all India quota seats?
Answer: Yes, now all foreign nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), NonResident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates are eligible to apply for 15% all India quota seats. Earlier, 15% all India quota seats were reserved for Indian nationals only
Question 5: AIIMS and JIPMER is through NEET or not?
Answer: No, admission in AIIMS and JIPMER is thorugh their own Entrance test.
Question 6: What does numbers of attempts to appear in NEET mean?
Answer: The Candidate can avail a maximum number of three (3) attempts to appear in NEET. The candidates who have already appeared for AIPMT/NEET three times will not be allowed to appear in NEET 2017.
Question 7: I have appeared in AIPMT 2015 and retest, along with NEET Phase 1 and 2, can I appear in NEET 2017?
Answer: Yes, you are eligible to appear in NEET UG 2017. The AIPMT test and the retest you appeared in 2015 will be considered as a single attempt. Similarly, NEET Phase 1 and Phase 2, combined will be taken as one attempt. You have one attempt left.
Question 8: If a candidate has appeared in state as well as institutional level exams for three times, but hasn’t appeared in AIPMT/NEET even once, will they be eligible to appear in NEET 2017?
Answer: Yes, if a candidate has not appeared in AIPMT/NEET ever, then they can avail a maximum of three chances to appear in NEET provided they also fulfill the upper age limit criteria.
Question 9: How will the three (3) attempts of NEET be calculated? Should it be consecutive or not?
Answer: If the Candidate has appeared in AIPMT 2014 and NEET 2016, they will still be eligible for one more attempt provided they have not crossed the upper age limit.
Question 10: The minimum age limit to appear in NEET is 17 years. If I have passed 12th Class in 16 years and 6 months, then am I eligible to appear in NEET 2017?
Answer: If you belong to General category and are born between 8th May 1992 and 1st Jan 2001, then you are eligible to apply for NEET 2017, even if your Class XII result is awaited. The same rule is applicable for SC/ST/OBC candidates if they are born on or between 8th May 1987 and 1st Jan 2001.
Question 11: In how many languages will NEET 2017 be conducted?
Answer: NEET will be conducted in 10 (ten) languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, English and Hindi.
Question 12: Is URDU language added in NEET 2017.
Answer: No, till now only 10 languages are added in NEET 2017 medium of question paper.
Question 13: If a candidate is opting for Assamese language in NEET, will they be able to get an examination center in Mumbai?
Answer: No, he/she will be allotted a center in their respective state only.
Question 14: Candidate appearing in Class XII in 2017 be eligible to appear in NEET?
Answer: Yes, he/ she is eligible required to be eligible in AGE/ ATTEMPTS etc.
Question 15: What is the meaning of upper age limit (25 years for General and 30 years for SC/ST/OBC) when candidates are already restricted to 3 attempts?
Answer: The upper age limit restricts students over a particular age from taking the NEET test. For example, if you are a General category candidate and older than 25 years on the exam date (May 7), you will be barred form taking the exam. The age limit applies even if you haven’t used your three attempts. Even if you exceed the upper age limit by one day, you are disqualified. This is also applicable for SC/ST/OBC candidates after their given age relaxations.
Question 16: Is there any changes in the exam pattern/ Syllabus in NEET UG 2017?
Answer: No, NEET 2017 will be conducted in the same pattern as NEET 2016.
Question 17: If a candidate is facing problems in filling NEET application form, whom should they contact?
Answer: This year, the common service centres will act as the facilitation centers of NEET and in case of any problem, candidates can contact their centre facilitator.
Question 18: What is the reservation criteria for 15% all India quota seats?
Answer: In 15% all India quota seats, 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST and 27% for OBC category candidates.
Question 19: Is Aadhaar Card mandatory to fill the NEET applications?
Answer: Yes, Aadhaar Card has been made mandatory to fill NEET applications except for candidates belonging to Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya and Assam.
Question 20: How can candidates who have recently submitted the request for updation in their Aadhaar details but have been unable to apply with the updated details, fill the NEET application form?
Answer: In such cases, candidates will have to apply for NEET by entering the 14 digit Aadhaar enrollment ID/UR number printed on the slip issued by Aadhaar centre.
Question 21: How will the merit list be prepared by states?
Answer: Every state will prepare its own merit list based on the All India Rank, keeping in view the category of candidates.
Question 22: Who will conduct counselling for NEET UG?
Answer: Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct counselling for 15% all India Quota seats. Further, for seats under control of states and universities, their representation authorities will conduct counselling.
Question 23: How can candidates outside India apply for NEET 2017 without Aadhaar Card?
Answer: The Candidates outside India may apply through their passport number.
